When installing Electric Underfloor Heating Systems, it is a must that you make sure your calculations are correct before ordering, as cables cannot be cut during installation and we will not refund any products which have been cut or damaged.
We recommend that when you take your measurements, you do so in metric (metres) and that you have these double checked before placing your order.
If you navigate below you will see we have an example explaining how to measure for your Electric Underfloor Heating:
Calculations
To find out what m² your room or fixed furniture, please navigate below to see example:
4m x 4m = 16m²
Calculation is Length x Width
You will need to calculate the total area (16m²) of the room you require the Electric Underfloor Heating in.
You need to make sure you deduct any fixed furniture in the room, example below:
✅ Island (2.16m²) 1.8m x 1.2m
✅ Unit 1 (1.32m²) 1.7m x 0.8m
✅ Unit 2 (1.12m²) 1.4m x 0.8m
This calculation will leave us with a floor area of 11.4m².
You must then allow for a minimum of 50-100mm border between the furniture or walls and the heating mat which will leave you with roughly 85-90% coverage.
Calculate this area:
11.4m² x 0.9 (90%) = 10.26m².
You must round down to the nearest mat size within the range, for this example it would be a 10m² heating mat.
For mat sizes above 10m², a combination of heating mats can be used to fill the available area.
You can use multiple mats with a single thermostat, however the maximum load of the thermostat needs to be taken into consideration as a contactor may be required.
We hope this Electric Underfloor Heating Calculator helped you measure your area.
